Join us on November 21st, from 10:00 till 13:00, when the OpenCloudification team (TheBeacon, imec IDLab and LSEC) will be hosting a FLEDGE Workshop.
FLEDGE is an open source, Kubernetes-compatible platform for deploying applications to edge devices and securely connecting them to the cloud.
The event is free to attend, but requites prior registration. It’s a physical-only event that takes place at the iGent tower, technologiepark-zwijnaarde 126, 9052 Zwijnaarde.
Contents
FLEDGE is a lightweight alternative to Kubernetes on the edge. It uses 90% less memory and 75% less disk space compared to vanilla Kubernetes. Yet, it provides the same API and developer experience.
It allows users to manage edge devices, deploy applications, and set up secure cloud-edge data streams using the familiar Kubernetes interfaces.
This workshop will give you hands-on experience with FLEDGE. It will teach you how to get started with it on an edge device, how to deploy applications, and how to set up data streams.
Key Takeaways
- Edge device management and monitoring from the cloud.
- Edge application deployment and monitoring from the cloud.
- Cloud-edge data stream management.
Requirements
- A laptop with VirtualBox or VMWare player installed. We will provide participants with a Linux virtual machine a week before the workshop.
We provide the edge devices (raspberry pi’s), and the cloud (a personal Kubernetes cluster in CloudNativeLab).
Registration
Please register on the Eventbrite platform.
This event is free to attend, upon registration in advance. However, please do take into account that for a no-show, or non-attendance, you will be charged – invoice of 150 EUR – excl VAT. This is mainly to cover facilities and catering.
